Steve started his career in the theatre as an acting ASM/understudy and performed in a number of shows, including the role of Pirate Starkey in Peter Pan at the Richmond Theatre, London, opposite Bonnie Langford and Robert Powell.
He went on to stage manage and then later company manage a variety of operas, plays, musicals and ballets representing many of the worlds leading producers in some of the most prestigious venues around the globe. He is proud to have managed several productions in London’s West End, including at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and regular visits to Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
He has had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most highly respected directors and choreographers in the business, including Gillian Lynne and Stephen Daldry and has managed artists of the highest calibre including Hollywood legend Mickey Rooney, Brian Blessed, Richard Wilson, Susan Hampshire, John Barrowman, Simon Shepherd, Joe Pasquale, Bobby Davro, Marti Webb, Wayne Sleep, Suranne Jones, John Savident, Johnny Briggs and Tina O’Brien.
He has tried his hand in producing musical theatre in association with leading producer Cameron Mackintosh and was promoter for an 80’s pop revival concert in London for Channel 4 Television, entitled “Bring back number one hits of the 80’s” with presenter Justin Lee Collins.
He recently made his directing debut at the Liverpool Empire Theatre, as assistant director for Cinderella, starring Cilla Black, Les Dennis and Jennifer Ellison. The production received rave revues and was billed as “Britain’s biggest and brightest pantomime”.
Steve is currently resident company manager with Northern Ballet Theatre, based in Leeds and also looks after national and international tour planning.
